Iconic Dutch design and traditional Moroccan craftsmanship blend seamlessly in the Abouzahra & Rietveld armchair, a signature Mina Abouzahra piece. The chair is included in Centraal Museum Utrecht’s permanent Rietveld collection and has been exhibited at the Joods Historisch Museum, Tropenmuseum and Van Eesteren Museum in Amsterdam.

Mina forges fresh, vibrant connections by embedding traditional Moroccan design in modern settings. The Abouzahra & Rietveld armchair, combining the minimalistic frame of a 1959 chair by Wim Rietveld (1924-1985) with a richly decorated handwoven Moroccan carpet, forms a case in point.

The Abouzahra & Rietveld armchair is part of a series of unique pieces combining Moroccan textiles - carpets and traditional costumes - with Rietveld frames painted in contrasting modern colours. The resulting union of multiple worlds, narratives and cultures is, according to Mina, a match made in heaven, a celebration of diversity and inclusiveness in both art and in life.
